About Me
Every meal tells a story, and every journey leaves a lasting impression.
I created Bumbu Dapur as part of my love letter to my family. It is dedicated to all the women and men who inspired me to continue creating the family legacy and keep exploring.
Emerging from the very end of Southeast Asia, a country that sits directly on top of the equator, Indonesia is what I call my motherland. It is a country rich with history, a variety of different cultures, and abundant delicious local delicacies. All of that was influenced by the original indigenous customs mixed with foreign influences from the Arab, Indian, Chinese, Dutch, Portuguese, and Japanese.
For me, food isn't just about satisfying hunger—it's about reliving those precious childhood moments spent in the kitchen with the incredible women in my family. Every dish was a labor of love and a cherished memory, from stirring bubbling pots of soup to rolling out dough for homemade cookies.
And then there's travel. The exhilarating thrill of exploring new places and experiencing different cultures! My love for travel was ignited by none other than my dad and uncles, a true adventurer at heart. From off-road road trips through rugged landscapes to spontaneous detours to discover hidden gems, my dad and uncles showed me the beauty of embracing the unknown and soaking in the wonders of the world.
Enjoying a delicious meal, the excitement of exploring new places while stumbling into the unexpected and creating heartwarming memories. All of that magic is what I wanted to share with the world!
So, combining my love for food and travel was a no-brainer! My blog became a canvas where I could paint colorful portraits of my culinary creations inspired by cherished family recipes, Indonesian colorful archipelago's and my globetrotting escapades. From savoring aromatic spices in bustling bazaars to whipping up nostalgic comfort food in my kitchen, each post is a love letter to the flavors of my past and the adventures ahead.
